Uganda doesn't do things by halves. Over ten unforgettable days, you'll trade city hum for wild horizons, tracking some of Africa's most extraordinary creatures across forest, savannah and river.
It begins gently in Entebbe, then heads north to Murchison Falls, where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and rhinos roam free at Ziwa Sanctuary. Game drives and a launch cruise set the tone — this is Uganda at its most cinematic.
From there, the rainforest calls. In Kibale, you'll spend unhurried hours with habituated chimpanzees, then wander the birdsong-filled Bigodi Swamp. Next comes Queen Elizabeth National Park, all sweeping plains and glassy waterways, where a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel brings you nose-to-nose with elephants, hippos and a riot of birdlife.
The grand finale? Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — misty, ancient and utterly magical. Here, you'll trek through tangled green to stand quietly in the presence of mountain gorillas. It's the kind of moment that rearranges something inside you.
Throughout, you'll rest easy in characterful lodges, from cosy upper-medium retreats to high-end hideaways with the Nile at your feet.
Rhinos, chimps, lions, gorillas — Uganda hands you the whole cast, wrapped in warm hospitality and landscapes that steal your breath. Ten days. One remarkable country. A lifetime of stories.
Welcome to Uganda! Touch down in Entebbe, where a friendly face is waiting to whisk you from the airport to your hotel. Settle in, shake off the journey and let the anticipation build — the wild is calling, but tonight is all about rest. Enjoy the calm of Lake Victoria's shoreline and a good night's sleep before the adventure begins.
Today the road opens up as you head north to Murchison Falls. Break the drive at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Uganda's only place to track rhinos on foot — a rare, up-close encounter with these gentle giants. Then it's onward into big-sky safari country, where the Nile and its wildlife await. Arrive at your lodge in time to unwind and soak up the wilderness.
A full day in the heart of the park. Set out on a morning game drive in search of lions, giraffes, elephants and buffalo, then swap wheels for water on a launch cruise up the Nile to the foot of the falls. Watch the river squeeze through a narrow gorge and thunder down in a roar of white spray. Cap it off with a hike to the Top of the Falls for that unforgettable big-picture view.
Leave the savannah behind and make your way to Kibale Forest, one of Africa's great primate strongholds. Fly or drive as the landscape shifts from open plains to lush, emerald rainforest. Arrive with time to settle in and tune into the forest's soundtrack — a chorus of birdsong, rustling leaves and distant chimp calls. Tomorrow, you meet the locals.
Today's the day! Head into the forest for a chimpanzee habituation experience — hours spent in the company of our closest cousins as they swing, forage and play overhead. It's raw, intimate and endlessly entertaining. Later, wander the Bigodi Swamp, a birder's paradise alive with turacos, monkeys and vibrant wetland life. A day of pure, unhurried connection with the wild.
Onward to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a sweep of savannah, crater lakes and shimmering waterways. Arrive in time for an evening game drive, when the light turns golden and the animals come out to play. Keep an eye out for elephants, buffalo, antelope and, if luck's on your side, a lion or two. A perfect first taste of one of Uganda's most diverse parks.
A classic Ugandan safari day. Rise for a morning game drive across the plains, then trade the road for the water with a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway links two lakes and draws wildlife in droves — expect elephants at the shore, pods of hippos, basking crocs and one of the richest gatherings of birdlife in all of Africa. Sit back, camera ready, and simply soak it in.
Begin with a game drive through the remote Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions draped lazily across fig branches — a quirky Uganda highlight. Then it's on to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a misty, ancient tangle of green and home to nearly half the world's mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge, breathe in the cool forest air and rest up — tomorrow is the big one.
The moment you've been waiting for: gorilla trekking. Follow expert guides deep into the forest, scrambling through vines and dense undergrowth until you reach a family of mountain gorillas. Standing quietly among them — watching mothers cradle infants, silverbacks keep watch — is the kind of encounter that rearranges something inside you. It's humbling, thrilling and utterly unforgettable.
All good things must end. After a final forest breakfast, transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe, where you'll connect with your international departure. Leave with muddy boots, a full memory card and a heart brimming with wild Ugandan magic — until next time.

Most international travellers require a visa to visit Uganda. Tourist visas are generally obtained online before travel through Uganda’s official electronic visa system, while certain nationalities are visa-exempt. Travellers combining Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda may also be eligible for the East Africa Tourist Visa. Visa requirements can change, so we recommend checking the latest requirements for your nationality before travelling.
A valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is an important entry requirement for Uganda and should be arranged well before departure. Uganda is also a malaria-risk destination, and travellers should speak with their doctor or travel clinic about malaria prevention and any other recommended vaccinations based on their itinerary and personal health.
Most international visitors arrive through Entebbe International Airport, located near Entebbe and approximately 40 kilometres from Kampala. From here, journeys continue by road or domestic flight to Uganda’s national parks and wilderness areas. Depending on your itinerary, Uganda can also be combined overland with neighbouring destinations such as Kenya and Rwanda.
Pack lightweight, comfortable clothing for warm days, along with long trousers, sturdy walking shoes and a lightweight waterproof jacket, particularly if gorilla or chimpanzee trekking is part of your journey. A warmer layer is useful for cool mornings and evenings, especially in higher-altitude areas. Sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, binoculars and a small daypack are also useful additions.
The official currency is the Ugandan Shilling (UGX). Cash remains useful for smaller purchases, tips and more remote areas, while major hotels, lodges and larger establishments may accept international credit or debit cards. US Dollars are also widely used within the tourism industry, particularly for certain safari-related expenses. It is advisable to carry a combination of local currency, some US Dollars and a major payment card when travelling through Uganda.
