Day 1 :
Cape Town

Transfer to your hotel and enjoy time at leisure. This evening, experience the vibrant flavours, music, and culture of Africa with dinner at the iconic GOLD Restaurant.

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the town is contained in a bowl created by Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and Table Bay.  It is therefore no wonder that it is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

In 1652 Cape Town was founded by the Dutch East India Company as a refreshment station for its ships on the way to the riches of the east. The Castle and the Company Gardens go back to these humble beginnings. A visit of the city centre with its many historical buildings and different architecture as well as a trip with the cable car to the top of Table Mountain are highly commended.

The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is considered one of the main attractions. Here you will find numerous bars, restaurants, boutiques and shops, cinemas and the aquarium. Outside in the amphitheatre there is regular live entertainment. All combined with the continuous activity of a working harbour.

Day 02 :
Cape Town

After breakfast, set out on a guided city tour of Cape Town, exploring its rich history and vibrant culture. Start the day with a visit to the iconic Table Mountain (weather permitting), where breathtaking views stretch across the city, coastline, and surrounding mountains. Continue to the Company’s Garden, admire the Castle of Good Hope, and take in the colourful charm of the Bo‑Kaap with its brightly painted houses and cobbled streets.

A highlight of the day is a visit to Table Mountain, one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A scenic rotating cable car ascends to the summit, where breathtaking panoramic views await, encompassing Cape Town, the Atlantic Ocean, surrounding mountain peaks and the vast interior. The mountain is also celebrated for its unique fynbos vegetation and forms part of the Table Mountain National Park.

The centrally located Company’s Gardens were established by the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century to grow fruit and vegetables to supply its fleet, and to trade with the visiting Mariners. Here a variety of trees, shrubs and flowers are grown around the historical buildings, including the South African Parliament and the State President’s guest house, the “Tuinhuis”.

The Bo-Kaap, formerly known as the Cape Malay Quarter, is situated on the slopes of Signal Hill. Founded in the 18th century it is characterised by mosques, brightly painted Georgian terrace houses and narrow cobbled streets. Most of the inhabitants are descendants of slaves from the East. The Bo Kaap Museum tells of the area’s history and Muslim heritage.

A final stop before ending this day is a visit to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, one of the most beautiful indigenous gardens in South Africa, nestled against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain.

Established in 1913 to promote, conserve and display the extraordinarily rich and diverse flora of southern Africa, Kirstenbosch boasts an impressive collection of indigenous flora, with over 7000 species in cultivation. Visitors follow a variety of easy walking trails though the various themed gardens, and the glass Conservatory. A well-stocked, good quality gift shop is located at the entrance to the Gardens.

Day 3 :
Cape Town

Today’s tour leads through an ever-changing landscape of majestic mountains, vast oceans, rugged cliffs and indigenous ‘fynbos’ vegetation.

The route follows the Atlantic Seaboard to the fishing harbour of Hout Bay where you can stop to take a boat trip to Duiker Island, home to a colony of Cape Fur Seals.

The route over scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive leads through the rural villages of Noordhoek, Oceanview, Kommetjie and Scarborough to the entrance of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.

Here, the landscape is rugged and it is no wonder that the Portuguese sea farers called the cape “Cabo Tormentoso”, meaning the Cape of Storms. Visit the Cape of Good Hope, the most south-western tip of the African Continent.

The Old Lighthouse at Cape Point offers a spectacular viewing platform over False Bay. It takes approx. 30 minutes to walk from the visitor’s car park to the Lighthouse summit, or a few minutes on the funicular railway.

The next stop is Boulder’s Beach, where a colony of African Penguins settled in the early 1980’s. Access to the Penguin Colony is managed by the National Parks Board. The Penguin Colony can be safely viewed from elevated boardwalks, over-looking their nesting grounds and beach. The Penguins mate for life, generally lay 2 x eggs, and the parents share responsibility for taking care of the nest and their young.

The journey continues through Simonstown where the South African Naval Headquarters are located.

The seaside towns of Fish Hoek and Muizenberg border the False Bay coastline and are popular for their swimming beaches in summer, and the viewing of Southern Right Whales in winter.

After breakfast, depart for Cape Agulhas via the scenic coastal town of Hermanus. Nestled along Walker Bay, Hermanus is renowned as one of the world's best land-based whale-watching destinations, with Southern Right Whales frequently spotted along the coastline between July and November. The area is also celebrated for its beautiful coastal scenery, nature reserves, and unique fynbos vegetation.

Continue to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of the African continent, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Named by Portuguese seafarers after the word agulhas ("needles"), the area is known for its rugged coastline and rich maritime history.

Upon arrival, check in and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. You may wish to visit the historic Cape Agulhas Lighthouse (entrance fee not included), South Africa's oldest operating lighthouse. First lit in 1849, it continues to guide ships along this dramatic stretch of coastline and now houses the country's only lighthouse museum. Climb to the top for panoramic ocean views and experience the unique meeting point of two oceans, making this a truly memorable stop at the southern tip of Africa.

After breakfast, depart for Franschhoek, travelling through the scenic Overberg region. En route, stop at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of the African continent, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.

Continue to the picturesque Cape Winelands, renowned for its award-winning wines, spectacular mountain scenery, and charming historic towns. Enjoy a wine-tasting experience at one or two celebrated wine estates, where you can sample some of the region's finest wines while taking in the beautiful vineyard landscapes.

Explore Stellenbosch, South Africa's second-oldest town, famed for its oak-lined streets, beautifully preserved Cape Dutch architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. Surrounded by prestigious wine estates, Stellenbosch is considered the heart of the country's wine industry.

The journey continues over the scenic Helshoogte Pass into the Franschhoek Valley. Known as the "French Corner," Franschhoek was settled by French Huguenots in 1688 and is celebrated for its rich heritage, world-class wineries, outstanding cuisine, and charming village atmosphere. Nestled amongst towering mountains, the village offers a distinctly European feel and is home to some of South Africa's finest restaurants and wine estates.

Upon arrival in Franschhoek, your guide will bid you farewell. From here, you will spend the final two days of your journey at leisure, exploring the Winelands independently and enjoying the relaxed pace of this beautiful region.
