Safari Overview

Forget the crowds. This is Tanzania the way it was meant to be met — wild, uncrowded, and gloriously untamed. Over eleven days you'll trade the well-trodden northern trail for the raw, rolling south, travelling by exclusive-use 4x4 with your own English-speaking guide and nothing but open horizon ahead.

It begins beneath the twin giants of Kilimanjaro and Meru, then rolls into Tarangire, where ancient baobabs stand guard over vast elephant herds and lions doze in the branches above. From there the journey winds through Tanzania's capital and the eroded sandstone pillars of the Isimila Stone Age Site, before delivering you to the crown jewel of the south — Ruaha National Park. Here, along the life-giving Ruaha River, big prides rule and antelope scatter across landscapes few travellers ever see.

The wild softens into the misty, primate-filled Udzungwa Mountains, where a guided hike leads to the tumbling Sanje Waterfall and its cool valley views. A final flourish through Mikumi — giraffe, buffalo, hippo, leopard — before the coconut palms of the coast signal your arrival in Dar es Salaam.

You'll sleep in characterful camps and lodges, dine on full board through the bush, and travel with the freedom of a private safari, just you and up to five others. This is southern Tanzania, unhurried and unforgettable — the safari the guidebooks forgot.
