ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS
The Caprivi, now called the Zambezi Region, is known for its rivers, lush greenery, and high concentration of wildlife compared to the drier parts of Namibia. It’s particularly great for boat cruises, birding, and spotting elephants moving between Namibia and Botswana.
Tsodilo Hills is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Botswana with over 4,000 ancient San rock paintings. It’s sometimes called the “Louvre of the Desert” because of its spiritual significance and remarkable collection of rock art.
Khwai borders Moremi Game Reserve and is one of Botswana’s most wildlife-rich areas. It’s famous for huge elephant herds, lions, wild dogs, and leopards, plus the chance to experience mokoro (canoe) trips in the Delta.
The dry season (May–October) is ideal as wildlife concentrates near water and the Delta floods, making mokoro excursions magical. Wet season (Nov–March) is lush, with fewer crowds and excellent birding.
Yes, the Caprivi Strip and Okavango Delta are malaria areas, especially during rainy season. Prophylaxis is recommended, along with mosquito repellent and protective clothing.
Popa Falls are a series of gentle rapids and cascades on Namibia’s Okavango River, not towering waterfalls. This scenic and tranquil spot is perfect for photography, bird-watching, and boat cruises.
Accommodations range from riverside lodges and tented camps with en-suites to rustic fly camps in Khwai, offering an authentic safari experience close to nature.
You’ll exit Namibia at Mohembo and enter Botswana at Shakawe (or vice versa at Kazungula/Ngoma for Vic Falls–Caprivi). It’s straightforward with a valid passport, visa (if required), and vehicle checks.
